VinylSurrender said: This is where it all comes together and Lonelady really delivers her slice of pure magic. I don't know who she's trying to sound like and it doesn't matter, I just know that I love it and I'll be listening to this song forEVER, well - at least until next week. I've heard reviewer(s) saying it sounds like Joy Division, but no, no, really nothing like it; it's just name dropping by people who intellectually understand the influences but don't really know the music. Let me give you a (not so comprehensive list) of influences: Prince - 'Kiss', 'New Position', because of the riff, the funk - SOME praise indeed. The Smiths (in places, because of the guitar work); Peaches, when peaches is good that is; Solex circa 'Solex vs The Hitmeister'; Cameo - 'Word Up'; ESG - early 80's female funk/hip-hop; Josef K - most definitely but more friendly. I even thought of Crystal Castles, but not sure why, maybe because it inspired the same amount of enthusiasm. It's cool yet good fun, like Santogold. It's a great record and a really enjoyable album.
